1000th Boeing 777 goes to Emirates

Boeing has finished its 1000th 777 on March 2. Because of this event there was a special ceremony with more than five thousand employees, suppliers, customers and government officials in Everett. The 777 jetliner will be delivered to Emirates later this month. Emirates is the biggest 777 customer with 102 777s in its fleet and 84 passenger airplanes and nine freighters on order. Emirates is also the only airline that operates all six members of the 777 family.
777 number 1000 is a 777-300ER (extended range) model that seats 360 passengers in a three-class configuration. Last year was the best year on record for 777 sales with 200 orders from 22 customers - topping the previous record of 154 set in 2005. Production is at an all-time high for the program with seven aircraft a month. Later this year production will even increase to 8.3 airplanes per month. From early 2013 one hundred 777s per year will be built. So far Boeing has sold 1,361 777s to 64 customers worldwide. (Photo: Boeing)
