The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is already ripe for the museum. The US aircraft manufacturer donates the third Dreamliner built to the Museum of Flight, located at nearby Boeing Field in Seattle, on Saturday 8 November.
The Museum organises a complete "Dreamliner Day" on Saturday around its newest treasure. The aircraft will be placed in the museum's Air Park, where it joins aircraft types like Concorde, Constellation, Boeing 747, Boeing 727, Boeing 737, an ex-presidential Boeing 707 and a Lockheed Super Constellation.
An official presentation ceremony will begin at 11 a.m., with officials from Boeing and the museum. After that the aircraft be available for public walk-throughs from 12 to 5 p.m. on Saturday 8 November and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday 9 November. As a show of thanks, Boeing employees, retirees and up to six guests are admitted free Saturday and Sunday (8-9 November).
On November 10 the aircraft will be closed to the public so that the museum staff can prepare it for permanent exhibition. The aircraft will be partially configured as an airliner and partially as a flight-test aircraft.
The museum 787, ZA003, the third test aircraft, first flew on 14 March 2010. It performed a large number of flight tests and visited 23 countries on Boeing's global "Dream Tour". (Photo: Boeing)
