On Sunday morning, 26 October, the two final scheduled passenger flights with McDonnell Douglas MD-11 widebodies are expected to arrive at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The flights are performed by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, the only airline still operating the MD-11 in the passenger transport role.
The first flight is scheduled for arrival at 5.45 a.m. local time, coming from Toronto. The second flight, from Montreal, the very last scheduled MD-11 passenger flight, should touch the concrete of one of Schiphol's runways around 6.35 hr.

Air France-KLM to phase out Martinair MD-11s
The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 is going to leave the fleet of Martinair next year. Martinair is part of the Air France-KLM Group, which will halve the number of dedicated freighters in the fleet, as it announced today. Air France keeps two Boeing 777Fs and KLM/Martinair three Boeing 747-400F aircraft.

Last KLM MD-11 flight nears
Times are difficult for the older widebody airliners. Not only many Boeing 747s and Airbus A300s are withdrawn from service, but also McDonnell Douglas MD-11s. Only one airline still flies this three-engined widebody on passenger services and that is KLM. But this will not last long. On October 25 the MD-11 will make its last flight for the Dutch carrier.
