Airbus has received type certification from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the A350-900 today. Certification by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is expected to follow shortly.
The A350-900 is now ready to fly for airlines. Airbus says it has aimed the A350 XWB to be a fully mature aircraft at entry into service. The first delivery will take place to launch customer Qatar Airways before the end of the year.
Five test aircraft accumulated more than 2,600 flight test hours, in, what Airbus calls, "one of the industry’s most thorough and efficient test programmes ever developed for a jetliner”. The photo shows all five test aircraft in formation. (Photo: Airbus)
