Qantas retires Boeing 767

Not only the Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet is taken out of service with the airlines, the 767 is under pressure too. Qantas is going to phase out its Boeing 767s and puts them in the desert where they will be stripped for parts.

Qantas still operates nine Boeing 767s, but is going to replace them with Airbus A330s coming from its low-cost affiliate JetStar, which is receiving Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which are much more fuel efficient than the 767s.

The last 767s will leave the Qantas fleet at the end of this year, nine months earlier than originally planned. Although..., if Boeing's 787 programme wouldn't have been delayed, than the 767s would have left the Qantas fleet already in 2010.
