Finnair is to be the first European operator of the Airbus A350 XWB, which will become the backbone of its longhaul fleet. The first A350-destinations out of Helsinki will be Shanghai, Bangkok and Beijing in late 2015, followed by Hong Kong and Singapore in 2016. The airline has 11 firm orders and 8 options for A350 aircraft.
Finnair unveiled the cabin design of the A350, which has been created by Helsinki firm dSign Vertti Kivi & Co, also the designer of Finnair’s new Premium Lounge at Helsinki Airport. The cabin will get dynamic LED-lighting with colours and moods to suit the time of day, destination or season. When descending in the East the aircraft can be awash in warm orange tones, or surface interiors may glow in fresh blue hues when arriving in Helsinki. All Finnair A350s will also be equipped with WiFi.
The Finnair A350 counts 297 seats, including 46 seats in Business Class in a 1+2+1 layout. The Economy Class cabin has 31-inch seats in a 3+3+3 layout. At the front of the Economy Class there are Economy Comfort seats with four inches of extra legroom.
