Want to buy an aircraft? A widebody aircraft in particular? What do you think how much that costs? Boeing recently adapted its catalogue prices 3.1 per cent upwards, and that is almost twice the level of price "correction" last year.
You go for the biggest and most advanced? Boeing's most expensive jet is the 777-9X twin-engined airliner (see image). That costs 388.7 million dollar (290 million euro). If you prefer a four-engined 747-8I Intercontinental with more engines and more space, then you pay less, "only" 367.8 million dollar.
Boeing also sells smaller widebody jets. You can still buy the 767-300ER, for 191.5 million bucks. Or the 777-200ER: 269,5 million dollar. The super high tech 787-8 Dreamliner takes 218.3 million, but if you want the stretched 787-10, then be prepared to pay much more for some extra fuselage frames and seats: 297.5 million dollar. The 777-300ER takes 330.0 million dollar, and that is quite cheaper than the 777-9X, which is only a little larger.
If you cannot afford a widebody aircraft yet, you can begin with a narrowbody 737-700 for 78.3 million dollar.
So, for buying aircraft you have to be rich, but if you are the CEO of a big, influential airline and you want to buy fifty, a hundred or even more airliners, then Boeing is known to give you generous discounts, although it never says how big these discounts are. Prices of new orders mentioned in press releases always are the catalogue prices, but never what the airlines really pay.
